What is a Comfort Zone?

A Comfort Zone (psychologically) is a situation or position in which a person feels secure, comfortable, or in control. It is a comfortable place to be in, but if we stay that way for too long, we might not experience exciting new things, discover our gifts and talents that might be snoozing with you while in your comfort zone, or to heal and overcome our fears, doubts and self-sabotage.

“Stepping out of your comfort zone” means doing things that you don’t feel comfortable with doing, for whatever reason. But if you a drawn or guided to move forward and challenge yourself, discover your limits and your excitement, then getting outside of your comfort levels and to push yourself in unfamiliar territory or to do things that you wouldn’t normally do, is a way to go.

Stepping out of your comfort zone doesn’t mean you need to expose yourself to dangerous situations or do massive changes in your life that might create lots of stress or anxiety.

The most important thing is to listen to your gut feeling and to your heart. For example, you feel you would love to try something new or different that you love or feel passionate about, but your fears seem to be stronger than your desire. All you need to do is to take the first step towards what you desire. It can be the tiniest step, but it is a step. And it is a step outside your comfort zone. But don’t stay there. Keep making steps and as long as you are moving, things will start changing for you. Remember, where attention goes, the energy flows. Stepping towards your goals and dreams will start drawing experiences, opportunities, people etc. towards you, so that each step you make will be easier. And through this process you’ll learn, grow and find a new aspect of yourself. It is a very exciting and empowering process.

Sometimes our fears of failure or low self-worth are so strong, that we literally can’t move forward. In this case it would be very wise to look deeply into the fears and beliefs that are preventing you to fully live your life, and to experience and share your joy and your creative gifts with the world.
